Toyota’s new EV is sleek and surprisingly quick
Toyota has just announced that its latest EV, the bZ Woodland, will start arriving at U.S. dealerships in March 2026. It’s a big step up from the smaller bZ, as the bZ Woodland boasts more space and a lot more power. It also forms part of a bigger EV push for Toyota, as the brand recently unveiled the three-row 2027 Highlander, too. Right now, all the attention is on the bZ Woodland, so let’s take a closer look at the EV after Toyota shared fresh images of it.

The bZ Woodland is clearly related to the bZ, but the former’s extended body is noticeable. The bZ Woodland measures 190.2 inches in length, whereas the bZ comes in at 184.6 inches.

The black overfenders give the bZ Woodland quite a rugged look, and it’s available with all-terrain tires. From the side, its almost wagon-like proportions are evident.

The rear, full-width light bar mirrors the front lighting arrangement. Lower black cladding complements the overfenders and adds to the crossover’s adventurous appeal.

Much like the new Highlander, the bZ Woodland shows off a more minimalist aesthetic than we’re used to seeing from Toyota.

Toyota
The bZ Woodland is no 4Runner or Land Cruiser off-road, but it gets an acceptable 8.4 inches of ground clearance and a multi-terrain monitor.

Toyota
Toyota’s decision to price the bZ Woodland at $5,305 more than the related Subaru Trailseeker is a controversial one, but the Toyota does come highly specified as standard. A 14-inch touchscreen, dual wireless charging pads, and heated front/rear seats are all standard.

Toyota
SofTex-trimmed seats are standard and both front seats have eight-way power adjustability. The Stone Brown color scheme lends the cabin a warm, inviting atmosphere, but black is also available.

The steering wheel is also finished in SofTex and is heated as standard. A top-mounted multi-information display measures seven inches, but it may be partially obscured depending on your driving position.

Toyota
The base trim has a six-speaker sound system, but the Premium model gains a nine-speaker JBL sound system with a subwoofer and amplifier. Both trims have wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Toyota
Cargo space is more generous than in the bZ. Here, you get 33.8 cubic feet of space behind the second row, increasing to 74.3 with the back seats folded. If the JBL sound system is fitted, cargo space behind the first/second rows decreases slightly to 71.8/33.3 cubic feet, respectively.

Toyota
Toyota hasn’t bothered to free up space for a frunk, but it does make for easy access to some key mechanicals. Both trims have dual motors producing 375 horsepower combined. With standard all-wheel drive, it’s one of Toyota’s quickest SUVs ever, sprinting to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds. The range on a full charge is 281 miles, dropping to 260 miles with all-terrain tires.
